Cooking with Olive Oil Destroys its Health Benefits

Before reading all the below details we would suggest the readers to eat olive or consume it in salad or such things but donot use Olive Oil for cooking purpose as the smoke it creates, is very harmful for an individual.

It is heard widely that cooking with Olive Oil is beneficial for health but actually cooking in olive oil destroys its health benefits and produces harmful chemicals to make your food poisonous. Olive oil has been heavily promoted as healthy oil but its not the fact.
  • Olive oil is a fat obtained from the fruit of olive tree (Olea europaea), a traditional tree crop of the Mediterranean region.
  • Olive oil is used in cosmetics, medicine, cooking and soaps.
  • It is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids
  • It is the main source of fat in the Mediterranean diet, which is associated with a low death rate from cardiovascular diseases compared to North Americans and Northern Europeans.
  • Olive oil may be is one of the more healthful oils, but it is still a fat high in calories and should be used in moderation.
  • Olive oil is 'better' than other oils as a part of healthy (Mediterranean) diet, but not that it in itself is good for health.
Cooking with Olive Oil:
The issue of cooking with olive oil is that healthy phenols found in olive oil are compromised by heat and beyond its Smoke Point temperature, nasty chemicals may be produced that will end up in food. Apart from these concerns, overheating olive oil can impart a burnt flavor to your food and remove some of the taste as well. It is a fact that vegetable oils and olive oil containing high amount of MUFAs have relatively low smoke points and cannot withstand large amount of heat.
Some Researchers opinion about olive oil is:

"Olive oil is primarily a monounsaturated fat. This means that it has one double bond in its fatty acid structure. The problem with olive oil is its overabundance of oleic acid (70%), which creates an imbalance on the cellular level that can inhibit prostaglandin production, which can increase the risk of breast cancer and heart disease."

It is a fact that there are some concerns about the high amount of oleic acid present in olive oil, but the consumption of oleate in olive oil has been associated with a decreased risk of breast cancer. Some studies have shown the olive-oil-rich Mediterranean diet cuts breast cancer.

According to Fox News:

"The smoke point of extra-virgin olive oil (high quality olive oil with reduced oleic acid content) is about 375 to 405 degrees, and if you go past it, as you surely will when using one of these high-temperature cooking techniques, you'll produce all sorts of nasty chemicals that will end up in your food. Some common examples include peroxides, aldehydes, ketones, and hydroperoxides, all of which are toxic. But you don't just end up producing bad substances; you end up destroying the good ones, too. At 356 degrees, antioxidants start to say goodbye — tocopherols are the first to go."
So apart from the quality of olive oil that is to be used in moderation with healthy diet, the cooking temperature holds the key to avoid damage of healthy compounds in the oil and prevent the production of any unwanted nasty chemicals. Owing to these concerns, it is suggested to use refined olive oil (having much higher smoke point) when cooking at high temperature. It is marketed as "extra-light," "light tasting," or even just "olive oil". The refined olive oil has a free acidity, expressed as oleic acid, of not more than 0.3 grams per 100 grams (0.3%). While the smoke point of olive oil is considered to be around 325°F - 375°F, that of refined olive oil is around 468°F (242°C). The extra-virgin olive oil is suggested for finishing a dish, not for cooking it.

Ungli - Movie Review

Ungli is a bollywood new released movie with a different idea and theme. My concept before watching the movie was that it would be somehow a movie that cannot be watched with elders like Imran Hashmi's other movies. But this time, ungli is bit different. The basic theme of the movie is to make corrupted people correct. But as all know where there is Imran Hashmi, there is always a kiss in the movie, in ungli there is no such scene due to which people feel embaraced except one kiss and that is basically Imran Hashmi movie symbol :). Sharadha Kapoor item song "Dance Basanti" is also very different as she didnt appeared in such a way earlier.

Overall the movie is fantastic and must be watched.

Imran Khan Threat of Blocking Lahore, Faisalabad & Overall Pakistan

Imran Khan threatened in his yesterday's speech to block Lahore on 4th December, afterwards he will block Faisalabad and Karachi on 8th and 12th December 2014. Finally he will then block the whole country if his demand of an impartial inquiry of 2013 general elections will not met.

This is really ridiculos that a person who is just a party president and he is announcing to block the country. We Pakistanis will never bear this kind of foolish steps to be taken with our country.

Single Child Is Different As Compared to the Children With Siblings

Benefits of Being an Only Child:
Financial Benefits For Parents
  • Leadership Benefits
  • Self-Sufficient
  • No Sibling Rivalries
  • Parents Attention
  • Self Obsessed
  • Accepting people as they are
  • Hardy
  • Independent
  • Accepting views of parents and their hardships
  • To counter superficial celebrations (birthdays, anniversaries etc)

  • Drawbacks of Being an Only Child:
    • Must Work Harder to Establish Friendships
    • Jealousy of others towards the only child
    • Loneliness (Perceived as Loners)
    • Trouble sharing
    • Sensitive
    • Incorrect guidance can lead them to the wrong path
    • Trust on everyone

    Benefits of Siblings:
    • Social Interactions
    • Learn from One Another’s Mistakes
    • Better Leaders
    • Competitiveness
    • Fun
    • Comfort and Sharing
    • Trouble sharing

    Drawbacks of Siblings:
    • Less Parental Attention
    • Blame Game
    • Jealousy
    • Conflicts
    • Fights
    • Expectations in comparison with other children
There are some myths about alone child:
Myth #1: Only children are aggressive and bossy.
Fact: Only children learn quickly that attempting to run the show, a ploy that they may get away with at home, doesn’t work with friends and a bossy, aggressive attitude is a quick ticket to ostracism from the group. Lacking siblings, only children want to be included and well liked.

Myth #2: All only children have imaginary companions to compensate for their loneliness.
Fact: There is no scientific evidence. Jerome Singer, Ph.D., professor of psychology and child study at Yale University, confirms that the imagination required to create make-believe friends “is not the exclusive property of the ‘only’ child, the isolated, the ill or the handicapped. Imaginary friends serve a purpose of meeting a need—to confront loneliness, to combat a fear, or to compensate for feelings of weakness in relation to adults or older children.” Any child can feel that need.

Myth #3: Only children are spoiled.
Fact: Being spoiled is a reflection of our society. The Chinese feared they were raising a generation of “little emperors” when their only child policy was in effect. Looking back 30 years later researchers have found that only children are not particularly spoiled and found no difference in only children’s relationships with friends when studied with children who had siblings.

Myth #4: Only children are selfish.
Fact: Every child at one time or another believes the world revolves around him. “Selfish means you are thinking of yourself as opposed to others,” explains Michael Lewis, professor of pediatrics and psychiatry at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. “The youngster who is unable to take the view of another is going to appear selfish. There are points in people’s lives, one of them being adolescence, when the energy is withdrawn. Hormonal changes and physical growth during that time may be particularly harsh and the energy to focus on others just isn’t there.” In the absence of siblings, parents cultivate the tools of sharing and feeling for others and are the best early teachers because of trust and faith children have in their parents. All parents can expect their toddlers and teens to act selfishly at times.

Myth #5: Only children must have their way.
Fact: Children with siblings often have more “who’s the boss” difficulties because they are constantly forced to share toys, television times, and parents. Kindergarten teacher Deejay Schwartz observes: “It’s the ones who have been jostled and have had to compete who are always trying to push someone down, to be first in line or yell louder in order to be heard. Onlies have always been heard at home, and therefore function in a very calm way.”

Myth #6: Only children are dependent.
Fact: Because of adult guidance and lack of siblings to lean on, only children are more self-reliant and independent than those who have brothers and sisters to fend for them.

Myth #7: Only children become too mature too quickly.
Fact: Children with siblings relate and talk to their siblings rather than their parents. The only child’s primary role models are parents. The result is that only children copy adult behavior as well as adult speech patterns and develop good reasoning skills early on making them better equipped to handle the ups and downs of growing up. A good thing, for sure.

    Phillip Hughes Death

The worst news, Phillip Hughes (Cricket player) has died from his injuries. Few days earlier his neck was hit by a bouncer ball after which he was taken to hospital. This was the second injury case in the world due to which a person had died.

Statement from Cricket Australia Doctor Peter Brukner: "It is my sad duty to inform you that a short time ago Phillip Hughes passed away. He never regained consciousness following his injury on Tuesday. He was not in pain before he passed, and was surrounded by his family and close friends. As a cricket community we mourn his loss and extend our deepest sympathies to Phillip's family and friends at this incredibly sad time."

The cricketing world rallied around 22-year-old Abbott, amid fears he may never play again. And doctors described the blow that killed Hughes as “very rare” and “freakish”. But former bowlers fear Abbott may never fully recover from his grief.

"Electric Rickshaw" To Be Introduced In Pakistan Soon

Earlier, E-Bikes were launched and test-drove in Pakistan for the first time. "Zar Motors" have planned to launch an "Electric Rickshaw" in Pakistan which will be available in the market soon. This Rickshaw has already been tested and drove by "Mr. Khawaja Ahmed Hassan", Advisor to CM Punjab at CM Office Lahore.

Electric vehicles do not require petrol or any other fuel to run since they have an electric engine powered by rechargeable batteries. This will be beneficial for rickshaw holders in terms of fuel price cost reduction as well as for the country in terms of reducing the fuel consumption and reducing the air pollution. As it will not release puffs of smoke into the air. There will be no rikshaw sound, thus noise pollution will also get reduced.

The Electric Rickshaws are bit different and elegant as compared to the traditional ones.

This E-Rickshaw will work on a simple principle of "Energy Conversion" i.e., sunlight will be converted into electrical energy and then electrical energy will be converted into mechanical energy which will ultimately power the rickshaw.

The initial cost of the vehicle may be high but the running cost will be lower. There is a possibility that government will launch E-Rickshaws under some "Rozgar Scheme". This technology can boost up the scheme providing more viable employment opportunities.

Electric Rickshaws will also eliminate the risk of LPG Rickshaws which were banned due to safety concerns.

Here is the test you can do yourself:

    1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
    2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
    3. If the lipstick color changes to black then you know the lipstick contains lead.
