TAX and TAX Process in Pakistan

What you need to do:1. Study your tax return and verify against your organization tax deduction certificate / salary slips (Jul-previous year to Jun-current year).
2. If you have not been with organization for the whole fiscal year (1-Jul-previous year to 30-Jun-current year) then please provide the Tax Deduction certificate(s) from your previous employer(s) as well.
3. (Optional) If you want to claim a tax refund with Govt of Pakistan then please arrange following for the Tax Returns.
- a: Withholding tax deducted by your bank on any cash withdrawals above 25,000.
[Evidence: Certificate of tax deduction from your bank]
- b: Withholding tax paid with motor vehicle registration / token (registered in your name)
[Evidence: Photocopy of the challan paid / receipt / token]
- c: Withholding tax paid with telephone / mobile bills in your name. If you are using an official mobile connection then any tax deducted by the mobile company will be adjusted in the tax return of the company. No action is required from your side unless explicitly requested.
[Evidence: Copy of the bill / certificate from the mobile company]

What the organization should do:It is a responsibility of an employee to submit their tax returns to FBR. You can file your return online yourself with FBR new system (http://e.fbr.gov.pk/).
4. Review the above information provided by the employees and file Tax Returns with FBR (on behalf of the employee).
5. If there is still any tax payable by an employee to the Government of Pakistan (after the above) then complete a tax challan form, get the amount due from the employee, deposit it in the National bank and provide its details in the Tax Returns.
6. File the tax returns with FBR electronically by the provided end date. FBR will give their acknowledgment / receipt, which will be then given to our employees for their record.

Important Points:A. If you prefer to do steps 4, 5 and 6 yourself then please feel free to do so, as these are responsibilities of the employee in the end (imposed by the Govt of Pakistan). The certificate given by organization should be sufficient for the purpose.
B. If your annual taxable income is above PKR 500,000/- (as specified on your tax certificate given by Financial Department + any other income you might have) then you are required to file a Wealth Statement as well.
