Orkut Farewell on 30th September 2014

Orkut was a social networking website that was powered by Google. The service was designed to help users meet new and old friends and maintain existing relationships. The website is named after its creator, Google employee Orkut Büyükkökten.

On June 30, 2014, Google announced it will be closing Orkut on September 30, 2014. No new accounts can be created starting July 2014. Users can download their profile archive by Google Takeout.

On 30th September 2014, the orkut finally got off. It was a surprising news because Google is a huge organization and its product is getting off. Somehow facebook and other social networking websites caused the reason to go Orkut offline. But there are still some features that are not incorporated in Facebook and other social networking websites like Orkut contained the feature in which user can view that who have viewed his profile.

Orkut was one of the most visited websites in India and Brazil in 2008.
