Buying Good Rims - Tips

  1. Know what kind of wheels you're building or buying.
  2. Are you building training wheels, race wheels (what kind of race, TT or crit?), all around wheels or just the cheapest wheels.
  3. Budget: Figure out your budget so you can maximize your wheels.
  4. Buy lightweight carbon rims for climbing.
  5. Buy deep carbon rims for time trialing.
  6. Tubulars are for races and retro bikes, not training
  7. Buy light aluminum clinchers for allround and racing wheels
  8. Buy heavier aluminum clinchers for training and cheapness.
  9. Build your rims with good hubs and spokes
